Linda Cochrane will be teaching our first knitting class in our workshop room! Above are examples of what we'll create!
We'll be working on a simple scarf, and this class will be 2-3 sessions long, depending on experience. You're welcome to come if you have more experience as well so you can help out others who are just starting out! You'll also be able to choose which days you are able to come, so if you need to skip a week, that's totally fine.
You can sign up here! Suggested donation is $10 per person per session, but as always, it's pay what you want! You can also include the price of supplies in your donation. You'll need worsted weight yarn and knitting needles that are size 7, 8, or 9. See you there!

We will be participating in SLCounty Community Exchange's skill share fair! Our table will be doing some quilting! We'll have some little example quilted squares, and you'll be able to design and make your own on a sewing machine, or you can hand quilt one that's already put together!
There will also be a lot of other skills to learn at the Skill Share, so come on over even if you already know how to quilt! (You can even teach us a thing or two!)

Three Cosplay Class & Workshops for making your first cosplay in time for FanX. For new and novice cosplayers, those interested in the hobby that haven't done it before as well as those who are looking to use more complicated techniques including sewing, body paint, electronic aspects (Lights and Ventilation), and foam crafting - all with an emphasis on finding affordable ways to do it!
Each class will run from 5pm-8pm for 3 consecutive Tuesdays at the Secondhand Salamander Workshop. If we end up with a lot of attendees, we may need to move it to the Kearns library, but we'll let you know for sure!
You can sign up here! You can also include the purchase of supplies in your donation, or you can bring your own! We have apparel fabric, buttons, beads, leather, and more that you can use for your cosplay.

Craft Swaps
Craft Swaps
If you would like to hold a craft swap with a youth group, craft club, or other community group, we'll help you set it up and bring supplies to kick it off! Any supplies left over can be automatically donated to the Salamander.
We've collaborated on craft swaps at libraries, UMOCA, and with Grid Zine Fest! You're also welcome to organize your craft swap in our own workshop room!

Host a Class/Workshop
Want to hold a class? Salamanders are versatile by nature and know a few tips and tricks for crocheting, sewing, painting, paper making, calligraphy, and the like. Let's learn together!
We've done some really fun art activities at senior centers, preschools, museums libraries, and more! We also love collaborating as a group, and we know everyone in the community has talents to share. Email us with your organization and idea!

Our workshop room is available for birthday parties, private events, to host a class, or even to run your tabletop RPG! Our suggested donation amount is $10 per person per hour to book our space, but as with all of the Salamander's services, we want to make this as accessible as we can for everyone, so it is also a sliding pay-what-you-can scale.
