Workshop - Cosplay Creation with Hunter

Three Cosplay Class & Workshops for making your first cosplay in time for FanX. For new and novice cosplayers, those interested in the hobby that haven't done it before as well as those who are looking to use more complicated techniques including sewing, body paint, electronic aspects (Lights and Ventilation), and foam crafting - all with an emphasis on finding affordable ways to do it! 

Each class will run from 5pm-8pm for 3 consecutive Tuesdays at the Secondhand Salamander Workshop. If we end up with a lot of attendees, we may need to move it to the Kearns library, but we'll let you know for sure!

You can sign up here! You can also include the purchase of supplies in your donation, or you can bring your own! We have apparel fabric, buttons, beads, leather, and more that you can use for your cosplay. 

Workshop - Knitting Class with Linda

Ongoing - Wednesdays from 6-8pm

Linda Cochrane will be teaching our first knitting class in our workshop room! Above are examples of what we'll create!

We decided to extend the knitting class indefinitely! Every Wednesday at 6 you're welcome to come learn how to knit! All levels are welcome. If you have more experience you can help out others who are just starting out!  

You can sign up here! Suggested donation is $10 per person per session, but as always, it's pay what you want! You can also include the price of supplies in your donation. You'll need worsted weight yarn and knitting needles that are size 7, 8, or 9. See you there!

Kristal from Love Street Salvage is teaching a class in our workshop room! This is specifically for hand sewing/upcycling. You'll also be able to choose which days you are able to come, so if you need to skip a week, that's totally fine. 

Suggested donation is $15 per person per session, but as always, it's pay what you want! Each of the days has it's own sign up link, so click on the day you'd like to attend to sign up!

Workshop - Beux's Visible Mending Class

Sept 18 - 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Beux will be teaching a visible mending class! We'll be using hand sewing/embroidery techniques to mend our clothes and make them look even better than they were before. Bring an item of clothing you'd like to mend, and there will be supplies here that you can use.

The suggested donation is $10 to pay for the class and supplies, but like everything in the store it's pay what you can. Sign up here! 

Workshop - Lexy's Machine Sewing 101 Class

Sign up here for Lexy's Sewing 101 Class 🦎✨

Learn how to use that sewing machine you inherited from your mom! Lexy will walk you through the ins and outs of how to thread your machine and start a seam. You're welcome to bring something you'd like to mend, or you can use supplies from the store to make yourself a pillowcase!

Donations of $15 are encouraged to cover the cost of supplies and the class, but as always it's pay what you can!

Crafts and Coffee with Lucky Ones Coffee

We'll be doing a Halloween decoration activity at Lucky Ones Coffee! We'll have all kinds of supplies for you to make your own spooky Halloween decor. Or if decor isn't your thing, we'll bring things for Halloween cards! 

Come grab a coffee, make a craft, then head into the library for your next cozy read!

Workshop - Angela's Autumn-y Embroidery Class

Oct 22 - 6:30 pm

Secondhand Salamander, 2238 W 5400 S, Workshop room

Angela is teaching an embroidery class! We'll be doing a simple pumpkin outline with a few vines and leaves. Angela will show how to trace a pattern, put the fabric in the hoop, thread the needle, make a knot, start and stop the thread, and a few different stitches.  

You will be able to take your pattern/fabric, hoop, thread, needle, and needle threader home. Then you will just need scissors to cut thread and a hairdryer or iron to erase the lines.

Suggested donation is $15 per person per session, but as always, it's pay what you want! All your supplies are covered in your registration!
